HE was supposed to lure clients to buy insurance, but Oscar Lei soon found himself lured into full-time volunteer work.
"It just happened," Lei said. "Before I knew it, I was out of Sun Life and all tied up with so many things to do in PAWS."
PAWS is the Philippine Animal Welfare Society, of which Lei is director.
In 1997, Lei was an agent for Sun Life Insurance. Their bosses often reminded the agents to be always in touch with people and to join civic clubs where they could meet prospective insurance buyers.
And so Lei, who says he has been an animal lover since he was a kid, joined PAWS in September 1997, having been invited by the family pets' veterinarian, Dr. Sonny Bautista of Aso, Pusa, Atbp. clinic located on P. Guevarra Street in San Juan.
