Sadly, things like this happen all the time and have been happening ever since the printing press. Witness the tobacco companies hiding studies about cigarettes and making commericals glamorizing them even after they knew they caused cancer. The corrupt dairy industry has been lying about the health "benefits" of cow milk and eggs for about a century now. People are brainwashed into believing it. To most people, just saying something a number of times - whether true or false - will cause them to believe it. The dairy industry just want to sell you more milk you don't need. The bottom line is you cannot trust what is on TV, even if it is the "news". The media is a biased self-interested company like any other. Witness scary mergers like AOL-Time Warner. M$ NBC. We live in a country that is becoming more and more corporate controlled. This is bad for people but good for companies and the rich executives who own them. Boycott the evil corporation Mon$anto!

Yes, sadly the new can not be truest for as long as there have been advertising. Just see in east europe like rejse bulgarien [rejsebulgarienferie.blogspot.com] where many news are suppressed for decades.
