Contributed by Anonymous Vegan

VISIT THE CHARLOTTESVILLE VEGETARIAN FESTIVAL

Festival will be held Saturday, September 25, 2004, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Lee Park in the heart

Food and Family Fun at One of the Largest Vegetarian Festivals in the United States

The eighth annual Charlottesville Vegetarian of the historic district of Charlottesville, Virginia. This free outdoor event will celebrate a healthy and humane lifestyle.

The Charlottesville Vegetarian Festival is one of the largest vegetarian festivals in the country. More than 100 exhibitors and 8,000 health-conscious visitors are expected at the event.

The festival will include restaurant booths, free vegan food samples, healthy-living exhibitors, nonprofit and educational organizations, a dog and cat Adoption Fair, a Kids' Patch for children, live music, and fun-raising activities for a spay/neuter project.

All food served at the festival will be vegetarian. Many cuisines will be represented— Chinese, Mediterranean, Mexican, and West African to name a few. Free vegan samples from natural-foods companies will also be available.

Healthy-living exhibitors will include practitioners of complementary medical therapies, such as acupuncture and chiropractic, and exhibitors showcasing natural and cruelty-free personal-care products.

Nonprofit and educational organizations will include local and national animal protection, vegetarian, environmental, and peace groups offering complimentary educational literature.

The Kids' Patch will include a magician, arts and crafts, a bean bag toss, sand art, and a children's literature table with information about animal and environmental issues.

Live entertainment will be provided by local musicians (to be announced).

The dog and cat Adoption Fair will bring together local animal shelters and sanctuaries with some of their dogs and cats that need loving homes.

The fun-raising activities will benefit The Spay/Neuter Project of Charlottesville-based animal-protection organization Voices for Animals. These activities include a silent auction, face painting, a vegan dessert booth, mini-astrology readings, and sales of vegan cookbooks and animal- and veggie-themed items.

The Charlottesville Vegetarian Festival is coordinated by Voices for Animals, which has been serving Central Virginia since 1984. The festival is organized entirely by volunteers. The festival venue, Lee Park, is one block north of Charlottesville's historic Downtown Mall.
